Patch 13.08 (October 13, 2026) added something Valorant has never had: a per-map performance rating. Here’s what Map Rating is, how it works, and — just as important — what it doesn’t affect.

What is Map Rating?

Map Rating is a private progress view that grades how well you play on each individual map in Competitive and Premier. Every map gets:

  • A 0–500 score
  • A letter grade from C to S

It’s computed from your overall win rate on that map, your attacker-side and defender-side win rates, and your Performance Score. Everyone starts fresh — there’s no historical backfill.

Where to find it

Patch 13.08 added a navigation bar to the Career tab, making it easier to reach feature pages including Rank Legacy, Accolades, and Map Rating. Only you can see your ratings — they’re private, not shown to teammates or enemies.

What Map Rating does NOT do

This is the part most players get wrong, so let’s be explicit:

  • It does not change your visible rank or RR. Riot said nothing about Map Rating feeding the rank system.
  • It does not affect matchmaking. Your MMR is untouched.
  • It is not public. Nobody can see your C-grade Split but you.

Think of it as a personal diagnostic tool, not a competitive mechanic.

How to actually use it

The value is honesty: if your Ascent rating is 180 (C) and your Lotus is 420 (A), you now have data behind the feeling. Practical uses:

  1. Map pool decisions — dodge or practice your C-grade maps instead of guessing.
  2. Side imbalance — the attacker/defender split shows whether you’re losing a map on one half specifically.
  3. Agent picks — pair your worst maps with your most comfortable agents while you grind them up.
  4. Track improvement — re-check after 20 games on a weak map. The number moving is real feedback.

Map Rating and the Act 6 map pool

Map Rating launched alongside a map pool shuffle: Bind and a reworked Corrode entered Competitive and Deathmatch, while Ascent and Split left. Everyone’s ratings on the two incoming maps start from zero — early Act 6 is the best time to build strong ratings on Bind and Corrode before the pool shifts again.

Frequently asked questions

Does Map Rating affect my rank? No. Riot has not said it influences visible rank, RR, or matchmaking. It’s a separate, private progress view.

Can other players see my Map Rating? No — it’s private to your account.

What is a good Map Rating score? Riot hasn’t published grade cutoffs, but on a 0–500 scale with C-to-S grades, think of it like school grades: climbing out of C means you’re holding your own; A and S mean you’re genuinely carrying on that map.

Does Map Rating reset? Riot hasn’t announced a reset schedule. It launched fresh with patch 13.08; expect details in future patch notes.
