Immortal and Radiant sit next to each other on the ladder, but they don’t work the same way. Immortal is still a rank in the traditional sense — Radiant isn’t.

Immortal is still a division-based rank

Immortal has 3 divisions, just like every tier below it. You climb through Immortal exactly the way you climbed through Ascendant: win matches, fill your RR bar to 100, promote to the next division. Nothing about the system changes structurally once you hit Immortal — the games just get harder, because everyone else in your lobby is Immortal too.

Radiant has no divisions — it’s a leaderboard

Once you clear Immortal 3 and cross the Radiant threshold, the RR bar stops working the way it used to. Radiant is capped at the top 500 players per region, ranked by leaderboard position rather than by division. There’s no “Radiant 1” or “Radiant 2” — you’re either inside the top 500 or you’re not, and your exact position can move every time someone above or below you plays.

What that means in practice

  • Losing doesn’t demote you out of Radiant the way it can in lower ranks. It drops your leaderboard position, and enough losses — or staying inactive while others climb — can push you below the cutoff and back into Immortal.
  • Every game matters more. In Immortal, a single loss costs you RR within a division. In Radiant, a bad session can cost you your leaderboard spot entirely if enough other players are climbing at the same time.
  • Regional cutoffs move. Because Radiant is a fixed count rather than a fixed skill bar, how much RR it takes to hold Radiant shifts with how many strong players are actively climbing in your region that Act.

Getting from Immortal to Radiant

There’s no separate mechanic to learn — the jump is about consistency, not a new system:

  1. Play enough volume. Leaderboard position rewards players who are both good and active; a handful of wins usually isn’t enough to break into the top 500 in an active region.
  2. Protect your win rate in dense lobbies. Every opponent at this level is mechanically strong, so decision-making and utility discipline separate players more than raw aim does.
  3. Track your leaderboard position, not just your RR. Once you’re close to Radiant, where you sit relative to the cutoff matters more than the RR number itself.
